Customising your workspace

A workspace is a starting point, not a cage. Everything is plain Markdown in plain folders — you're meant to reshape it. There's only one rule: keep the instruction layer in sync with reality.

Safe to change freely

These change nothing about how AI tools navigate:

  • Add folders and files anywhere — new client folders, new modules, new content pillars.
  • Rewrite any document's content. The templates are examples, not contracts.
  • Delete folders you don't use. An empty Investors/ folder helps nobody.

Change with care

Renaming or restructuring top-level folders is fine — but AI Instructions/ describes the tree, so update it in the same sitting. If claude.md says customer interviews live in Customers/ and you moved them to Research/, your AI will look in the wrong place with full confidence.

Treat it like renaming a function: do the rename, then update every reference.

Make the AI do the bookkeeping

The fastest way to keep instructions honest is to delegate it:

TRY THIS PROMPT
I've restructured this workspace. Read the current folder tree, compare it against AI Instructions/, and update the instructions to match what actually exists.
